Our Polish Saturday Preschool project offers a warm and engaging environment for young learners to develop language, cultural awareness, and social skills. We currently run two age groups for children aged 5 and 6, tailored to their developmental needs through play, music, and creative activities.
The preschool operates in two locations: Reykjavík and Reykjanesbær, making it accessible to families across the region. Our program supports children in maintaining and strengthening their connection to the Polish language and culture while building friendships in a joyful and supportive setting.
The preschool project is funded by Polish Embassy in Reykjavik.

We provide children with regular contact with the Polish language while consciously introducing elements of Polish culture and traditions. We teach Polish in a natural and engaging way. Always adapted to the age and developmental stage of the children.
We share knowledge about Polish traditions and holidays through thematic workshops, including celebrations such as Independence Day (November 11), Constitution Day (May 3), Christmas, and Easter. We also introduce children to the natural environment of Poland – its seasons, landscapes, and characteristic features.
An important part of our work is international cooperation. We carry out joint projects with preschools in Poland (including in Łódź and Kraków), which allows children to build meaningful connections with their country of origin.
We also emphasize that a strong foundation in a child’s family language supports overall language development and makes it easier to learn additional languages.
Children acquire language naturally and effortlessly, despite its complexity. By the age of 4 to 6, most are already fluent in their native language. This process happens without formal instruction, unlike in older learners, who often need years to master a new language.
This explanation comes from an article published on the Vísindavefurinn (The Science Web of the University of Iceland), prepared by academic contributors.
