Intergenerational exchange of experiences in creative recycling
Small-scale partnerships in the adults education
PROJECT NUMBER 2024-1-IS01-KA210-ADU-000248369
Creative Recycling is an international project implemented within the Erasmus+ programme (KA210-ADU). Its main goal is to raise awareness of environmental responsibility by promoting intergenerational and intercultural exchange of experiences. The project brings together seniors and younger generations from Iceland, Poland and Italy, proving that caring for the planet can also be a space for dialogue, cooperation and mutual inspiration.
The project focuses on creative recycling in everyday life – in food, clothing and the reuse of materials – while at the same time strengthening green and digital competences of participants.
From workshops to a shared digital result
As part of the project, the partners implemented:
- 9 local intergenerational workshops (3 in each country),
- 1 international workshop in Iceland, dedicated to sharing experiences between countries.
During the workshops, senior participants shared their practical knowledge and long-established recycling practices, while younger participants supported them in documenting the results and using digital tools.
This collaboration led to the creation of the project’s key result:
🌱 Virtual Gallery –
an e-gallery of creative recycling
Virtual Gallery is a free, multilingual digital gallery / e-book presenting the best practices in creative recycling collected in Iceland, Poland and Italy.
Each featured practice includes:
- the personal story of its author,
- photos of recycled materials and the final product,
- a practical recipe or instruction that can be easily replicated at home.
The Virtual Gallery combines environmental awareness, intergenerational knowledge and cultural diversity, showing that small, everyday actions can make a real difference for the planet.
Why explore the Virtual Gallery?
✔ it inspires eco-friendly everyday actions
✔ it promotes reuse instead of waste
✔ it highlights the value of seniors’ experience and knowledge
✔ it encourages intergenerational cooperation
✔ it builds environmental awareness in an accessible and visual way
The Virtual Gallery is not just a collection of ideas — it is an invitation to rethink our relationship with resources and waste.
